Basic 5 Step Plan

SPRING STEP 1 - LATE MARCH: (when red bud/forsythia bloom)
• Optional Aerate, Over Seed, and Starter Fertilizer or Propeat 17-0-4
• Optional recommended: early spring pre-emergent (if not seeding)

SPRING STEP 2 - MID/LATE APRIL through MID MAY:
Somewhere in this window - look at lawn color and vigor to determine exact
time - does it need it? If the answer is YES then Throw’er Down!)
• Pre-Emergent
• Full dose of Propeat 13-5-8
• Spot Spray Weeds

SUMMER STEP 3 - JUNE:
• Propeat 13-5-5 (lighter rate)
• Starter Fertilizer (optional for thinner, irrigated lawns)
• Optional: Grub Control (recommended, water it in)

SUMMER STEP 4 - JULY 4TH
• Full dose Propeat 10-0-10

FALL STEP 5 - LATE AUGUST/SEPTEMBER:
If your lawn looks good:
• Full dose Propeat 17-0-4

Other Fall Options

STEP 1 - AUGUST/SEPTEMBER
If your lawn is NOT looking good.
• Aerate and Overseed
• Starter Fertilizer
• Propeat 7-4-14
• Spot Spray Weeds

• Spot Spray Weeds as needed
• Prodiamine Pre-Emergent (recommended - prevents poa annua)

FALL STEP 2 - OCTOBER:
• Full dose of Propeat 13-5-8
• Spot Spray Weeds as needed
